This is -roughly- the percentage of waste that we produce per year, in terms of materials we don' t manage to regenerate (and thus reuse) ourselves. Looking at this value, every word spent to comment it is almost unnecessary. On top of this, try and think about how much a lighter material can improve fuel consumption, if used to replace heavier parts in vehicles!
